Training Wheels

In a day and age when we are being taught “how” to manage our spiritual growth, it’s good to remind ourselves Who is in charge of our development and maturity. The vast amount of literature on the topic might give us the impression that we are in charge, but the Bible doesn’t hold that perspective. In fact, according to the writer of Hebrews, “…Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2. I think that’s great news! It takes the pressure off of having to read just the right Christian book or attend the best personal growth seminar.
Much of Hebrews 12 is about the discipline God the Father provides all who belong to Him. He is the one shaping our faith, through instruction and training—shaping and molding our life to match that of His Son.
While I grew up with a definition of discipline that looked more like cruel punishment, God’s discipline always brings with it a sense of great nurturing. Oh for sure, there are times it is quite unpleasant, but His purpose behind the discomfort is always for our good. Always!
The audio file, Training Wheels, takes this thought a little further. I pray the Lord will stir your thinking as you listen to (click on this link) Training Wheels. You will also find the audio file under LISTEN TO →
All for His glory.
