It’s amazing how we rewrite history based upon our fundamental beliefs. It’s true, the history lessons I received in the 50’s omitted many atrocities committed by the first settlers of America.  Our humble beginnings were not always so humble.  There were greedy settlers just as much as there were godly men and women who wanted to establish one nation under God.  Both were present, but thankfully one group won out.  Our founding fathers worshiped Almighty God and they looked to Him to establish the United States of America.

It’s a different day and age…  We can no longer say we are a Christian nation. In fact, Christians are not so free to express their faith, at least not without receiving some degree of rejection.  No, it’s not even to be compared with the persecution received by believers in other countries!  By comparison, it’s baby stuff, but nonetheless we are losing our freedom and more loses are expected in the coming days.

However, God still reigns and He is worthy of our thanksgiving!  He is worthy of praise that is visible and out loud—not obnoxious, but expressions of praise that are gracious and genuine.  As long as we have tomorrow, I will praise Him for all that He is and all that He does!  He is glorious beyond expectation!  Worthy is the Lord to receive honor and glory and praise!

Today’s broadcast, Giving Thanks comes straight from my heart to yours!  May He bless you in the hearing of it!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Advent

For years I’ve thought we should have a Thanksgiving Advent.  Perhaps it would include two-weeks of refocusing our attention on the Source of all goodness and bounty, God Almighty.  Each day would include acknowledging God for the different ways He blesses us.  I dare say, once we got going it would be hard to stop.

God’s providential care was a concept that was widely accepted when the Pilgrims who landed in the New World.  His wisdom, care and guidance was freely acknowledged.  Even amidst pain and loss they praised God for who He is and all that He did on their behalf.  They had a wider view of God…

There is something about thanksgiving that widens our view of God.  Without it we are grumbling beggars; with it, we are joyful singers.

Give thanks to God with a grateful heart, dear Pilgrim!

News in the Works

Hello Grace Tapestries blog visitors!

The past few days have been wildly busy.  The Lord is opening new doors for ministry.  As soon as things get confirmed, I’ll give you scoop.

Remember, Jesus is alive!  It’s His desire to live through surrendered lives.  Can you think of anything more exciting than to have the Risen Lord Jesus manifest Himself through you today?  That is so over the top radical!  That’s trail-blazing amazing!  Rope and ride!

For years and years, I thought faith was a rip off. I thought it was about getting results. I hated walking by faith, because I didn’t seem to get the “results” I desired. I wanted evidence, I wanted answers, and I wanted them now! As you might guess that attitude deeply hindered my ability to trust God. No wonder I was an emotional wreck!

Faith is walking in His reality.

Years later… I see faith in a new light. The Lord opened my eyes to my identity in Christ and He’s showing me how I am rooted and grounded in Him, and no matter what difficulty I may encounter, I remain anchored in Christ. As today’s recording says, we are Swaying in the Wind (click to play) rooted and grounded in love.

I pray your heart is encouraged to trust Him with everything in your life.  He is worthy of our trust.  He is our glorious God and nothing is too difficult for Him!  Praise be to the Lord of Hosts!

Boy howdy, I hit an oil slick a few days ago that set me on my you know what.  Well, figuratively speaking, that is.  In more direct terms, I took my eyes off the Lord and wound up discouraged…as in my lower lip dragging in the gravel!

Like many of you, we are having a difficult time making ends meet.  As a faith-supported ministry we depend upon the Lord to provide us our daily bread.  It’s a blast living this way, but there are many times He waits until 11:59 and a few times, He works past the due date.  That’s not so fun.  And when the mortgage is due on the 1st and it’s the 14th, and when medical insurance is due, and household bills are collecting in a nice neat pile on the desk, it’s especially not so fun.  I get scared.  Occasionally, I begin to question His direction: Am I doing something wrong?  Did He forget me this month?

Well, He answered in the most extraordinary way yesterday!  No, our financial situation hasn’t changed much, but He zeroed in on my heart and blessed me with an incredible sense of His presence.  You see, I think this faith journey isn’t about us believing God for answers, I think it’s about believing God period!  I think it’s about us acknowledging this mighty, glorious, awesome God, and standing there until this world zooms out of focus and all we can see is His splendor!  I don’t think it’s about us getting answers to our prayers—I think it’s us about discovering Him as the only answer! I think it’s about letting go of our “sense” of control, and surrendering to the Lord of Hosts!  The very thought of that WOWs me beyond my greatest desire!

I woke up singing yesterday!  I sang at the top of my lungs that sweet old hymn, “He Lives”. The more I sang those words, the more the things of this world faded in their intensity.  He lives, and the most radical, life-changing Truth is that we are in Christ and Christ is in us!  WOW!

Dear one, I have no idea what you are going through.  I know thousands of you are experiencing financial distress.  I know many of you are faced with circumstances that seem out of control.  In the face of everything, there is a huge God that knows your name, knows your needs, and His timing is perfect!  And the greatest answer to prayer is when we discover who He is!  When we know that, all these other things fall into their proper place.

Cling to Him.  Run to Him.  Stand upon His word.  Love Him above all else.  Wait for Him.  Trust Him.  Sing to Him.  Pray because He lives and He loves you.  Rejoice in the God of your salvation…  Listen, It’s God Calling! Click on link to play or find link under LISTEN TO.

He Lives
1933 by Alfred Henry Ackley
Public Domain Words and Music by Unverified

I serve a risen Saviour,
He’s in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.

Chorus:
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives
today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He live, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
Thro’ all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.

Chorus

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
To Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him,
The help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
So good and kind.

Chorus

Revival is rolling in America…  We are seeing the beginning of it and soon it will flash forward like nothing we have ever witnessed before.  It won’t be about us, it will be about the Lord of Hosts!  Our priorities will straighten out (O Lord, hurry with that one) and we’ll see miracles spring up to the glory of God.  Yes, hardship and suffering will occur, but the reality of Jesus Christ will run so deep that grace upon grace will meet us every step of the way!  We won’t walk in fear instead we will stand upon His word like never before!

Yesterday’s recording, The Joy of the Lord pierced my heart as I considered how holy our God is and how He longs to give us His joy!  He is so gracious!

Watch and wait and stand on His word, beloved of God!

There is no where to stand but on the Rock! There is no where to turn but to the Lord! There is nothing certain, nothing hopeful, nothing worth anything, apart from Him. I’m sorry that sounds so radical, but when you are at the end of your rope, when there is nothing you can do to alter your circumstances, there He stands! When you have NO idea how your going to pay your mortgage, your medical insurance, or how you are going to meet other pressing demands, He’s your only hope!

Unfortunately, many today treat Him as their last resort. They’d rather look to a mere human being who’s running on a promise of hope… It’s a sad day when we forget Who holds our next breath. There is no hope apart from Jesus Christ! That’s the truth!

And the other truth is He is alive! He is alive today! He is living through the lives of men and women who are fully yielded to Him. He is expressing Himself in radical ways through surrendered lives. To be a Christian means that the full weight and reality of Jesus Christ is brought to bear on our lives, in power and might and glory! He does the living, we do the surrendering! Jesus lives! He lives! Jesus lives! Stand on it! If you don’t see it, ask Him to give you a revelation of His life! He will! He will blow you away!

Rock of Ages cleft for me…let me hide myself in Thee!
